SpareKey Privacy Policy

Effective October 25, 2026

SpareKey ("SpareKey," "we," "us") is a product of UpSkillPros LLC, based in Springfield, Missouri. This policy explains what information SpareKey collects, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, contact us at support@sparekey.me.

The short version

  • You decide who sees what in your SpareKey. We don't decide that for you, and we don't look at your content to sell anything.
  • We never sell your information.
  • We never share or sell your mobile number or your consent to receive texts.
  • We don't store passwords to your other accounts, by design.
  • You can download everything you've entered, or delete your account, at any time.

Who this policy covers

  • Owners: people who create a SpareKey for themselves.
  • Helpers, family members, and executors: people an owner invites to help or to receive information.
  • People listed in a SpareKey who don't use it: for example, a neighbor an owner lists under "If you can't reach me." We don't contact these people.
  • Visitors to sparekey.me.

What we collect

Information you give us when you sign up or sign in

Your name, email address, and mobile number. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We don't receive your Google password.

What you put in your SpareKey

The details you choose to enter, such as contacts, routines, travel dates, your wishes, where documents are kept, the names of your banks and other institutions, information about your health care, notes about your belongings, and personal messages, including videos and letters. This can include sensitive information, so we treat all of it as private.

Information about other people

Owners may list other people, such as family, friends, neighbors, doctors, or an attorney, with their names and contact details. If you list someone, please make sure they'd be comfortable with that. We use this information only to show it to the people the owner has chosen, when the owner's rules allow.

Information about activity in a SpareKey

We keep a record of important activity, such as invites, requests to open a SpareKey, when a request was stopped or opened, and who viewed which section or message. Owners can see this record. It helps keep everyone's information safe.

Payment information

If you buy a paid plan, our payment processor handles your card details. We don't store your full card number.

Technical information

When you use SpareKey, our hosting providers record basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of a request, to keep the service running and secure. We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. We don't use advertising cookies or sell browsing data.

How we use information

  • To run SpareKey: store your content, show it to the people you've chosen when your rules allow, and send the texts and emails you've asked for.
  • To keep accounts secure: send sign-in codes, detect misuse, and keep the activity record.
  • To send important notices, such as a request to open your SpareKey, a monthly check-in, or changes to these terms.
  • To provide support when you contact us.
  • To improve SpareKey, using overall patterns, not by reading your personal content.

We don't use your content for advertising, and we don't sell it or rent it to anyone.

Text messages (SMS)

If you choose to sign in by text or turn on text alerts, we'll send messages to the number you give us. These include sign-in codes, alerts about requests to open a SpareKey, check-in reminders, and notices that something has opened. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help.

We don't share or sell your mobile number or your text-messaging consent with anyone for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text-messaging opt-in data and consent; that information won't be shared with any third parties.

Who can see your information

The people you choose. In your SpareKey, you decide who your helpers, family members, and executor are, and which sections each person can receive. Most sections open to them only after they ask and the wait you set has passed without you stopping it. A personal message is shown only to the person it's for.

Helpers you invite can see and edit your SpareKey on your behalf. Their changes are recorded and labeled with their name.

Your employer, if SpareKey is a work benefit. Your employer sees only overall counts, such as how many employees have started a SpareKey. Your employer never sees what's inside your SpareKey.

Service providers who help us run SpareKey. We use trusted companies to host the app and its database, store files, send email and texts, provide sign-in with Google, and process payments. They may use your information only to provide their service to us. Today these include:

When the law requires it. We may share information if we're legally required to, such as by a valid court order, or to protect someone's safety. When we can, we'll tell you first.

If our business changes. If UpSkillPros LLC or SpareKey is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must keep protecting it under this policy or tell you about changes first.

How we protect information

Information is encrypted while it travels between your device and SpareKey, and our hosting providers encrypt stored data. Videos are kept private and shared only through short-lived links after we check that the viewer is allowed to see them. Access rules are enforced in our database, not just in the app's screens. No system is perfectly secure, so if something ever goes wrong, we'll tell affected users promptly.

How long we keep information

We keep your SpareKey for as long as your account exists, including after an owner passes away, so the people they chose can still reach what was left for them. You can delete content at any time. If you delete your account, we delete your content within 30 days, except for information we must keep by law or to prevent fraud. Backup copies are erased on their normal schedule.

Your choices and rights

  • See and download everything you've entered, at any time.
  • Correct anything by editing it in the app.
  • Delete content or your whole account.
  • Turn off texts by replying STOP, or change alerts in your settings.
  • Ask questions at support@sparekey.me.

Depending on where you live, you may have more privacy rights under state law, such as the right to know what we've collected or to ask us to delete it. We honor those requests for everyone, wherever they live.

Health information

SpareKey isn't a doctor's office, hospital, or health plan. Health details you choose to enter are stored privately and shared only under your rules, the same as everything else in your SpareKey.

Children

SpareKey accounts are for adults 18 and older. An owner may set aside a message for a child, which is held until that child is an adult and has their own account. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
