Common questions
I got a text from SpareKey. What is it?
SpareKey sends texts only to people who asked for them: sign-in codes you requested, and alerts you turned on, like when someone asks to open a SpareKey. Reply STOP to stop texts, or HELP for this page.
Someone asked to open my SpareKey. What do I do?
If you're okay, tap the link in the alert, or open SpareKey, and choose "I'm okay." That stops the request right away, and the person who asked is told you're fine.
Someone sent me an invite. Is it real?
Real invites name the person who invited you and link to sparekey.me. You'll only get in by signing in with the same phone number or email the invite was sent to. If you're unsure, ask the person who invited you.
I can't reach someone who has a SpareKey. What should I do?
Open their SpareKey and tap "Can't reach?" You'll see who can check on them, like a neighbor or friend, and their usual routines. They're told right away too.
How do I stop text messages?
Reply STOP to any SpareKey text. You can turn texts back on by replying START or changing your alerts in settings. Email alerts keep working either way.
How do I download or delete my information?
Go to your account settings. You can download everything you've entered at any time, or delete your account.
Does SpareKey store my passwords?
No, on purpose. SpareKey points your family to your password manager's own emergency access feature instead.
